SUITABILITY
|
- For research and development, not for animal, human,
diagnostic, or therapeutic use.

|
APPLICATIONS
|
- Is a natural herbivore-induced plant volatile it is a
naturally occurring product in trees, legumes, exotic plants, vegetables,
berries, and the primary constituent of the oil of wintergreen. Plays an
important role in fruit ripening. It is known to attract natural enemies of herbivores.
Inhibits the activity of aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid synthase (ACC
synthase) and aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid oxidase (ACC oxidase) in
plums and tomatoes. It can inhibit fungal infections and reduce chilling
injury symptoms in fruits like pomegranates. Used as a component of
clarifying solution for treating Mongolian gerbil cochlea intact for
immunofluorescence analysis. Used as a plant elicitor to test its effect on
reducing the whitefly population from tomato plants. Used in the
hyalinization of tissues for pulmonary angiography. It acts as an
anticoagulant by interruption of the vitamin K1-epoxide cycle. It is utilized
as an anti-herbivore defense system in various plants. It is used as a
transfer agent to get a manual copy of an image on a surface and to clear
plant or animal tissue samples to be used for microscopy. Used as a flavoring
agent and providing fragrance to products like chewing gum and mints, is of
great interest in the tobacco industry as a flavorant.
